The AI Assistant is a chat panel inside Kontainer. It answers questions about your assets, folders, products and users, and it can act on them on your behalf.

Everything an administrator sets for it lives in one place: Settings → Configuration → AI → AI Assistant. There are two things to decide there — where the assistant opens, and which prompts your users can reuse.

These settings sit alongside the rest of your AI configuration. If you have not chosen an AI provider yet, start with AI Features for DAM, which covers providers, tokens and the rest of Kontainer's AI tools.

Find the settings

  1. Go to Settings → Configuration
  2. Open AI in the menu. It expands into General and AI Assistant
  3. Choose AI Assistant

Choose where it opens

Layout decides how the assistant appears. The setting is per brand, so a Kontainer with more than one brand can place it differently in each.

There are three choices:

  • Right drawer
  • Floating (centered)
  • Left pinned

Add reusable prompts

A prompt is a piece of text your users can drop into the chat instead of typing it out, so a phrasing that works well is written once and available to everyone.

Press New on the Prompts section and fill in:

  • Title — shown in the chat's prompt list
  • Slash command — lowercase letters, digits and hyphens. Typing / in the chat brings up the list
  • Description
  • Prompt — the text sent to the assistant

System prompts

A prompt can also be marked as the automatic system prompt for a brand. Its text is then appended to the assistant's own instructions rather than waiting to be called, which is the way to give the assistant standing context — house style, what your folders are for, which fields matter.

What your users see

The assistant opens from its launcher and greets an empty chat with "Ask me anything about your assets, folders, products, or users."

Along the bottom of the message box:

  • Attach files — add a file to the conversation
  • Tool permissions — the assistant asks before it uses a tool. Approving one here stops it asking every time, and the list says so: "Tools you approved without being asked each time. Revoke to be prompted again." Approvals belong to that chat and can be revoked
  • Prompts — the list you configured above
  • Write / Read-only — whether the assistant may change things in that chat or only look. Each new chat starts on its own setting

At the top of the panel are History, New chat and Close.

Watch it done

The same three steps end to end: finding the settings, adding a prompt, and picking it up in the chat. Subtitles are on by default and the player's own controls turn them off.
